Bentley goes electric

Bentley Motors will launch an all-electric version of EXP 10 Speed 6 within the next few years. The brand-new 500HP vehicle will have two electric motors, a pair of three-stepped automatic gearboxes and a top speed of around 200 mph (320 km/h).

Bentley is one of the luxurious automakers that is extremely conservative.

They rarely change something in their vehicles, double-check everything before adding it and, to be fair and square, their approach is more than understandable.

What is the sense of changing something if everything is as reliable as the Swiss watch?

However, the 21st century dictates its own ‘rules’ that need to be taken into account.

Rigorous safety standards and picky buyers motivated legendary British automaker to go electric –Hooray! Oh, I have forgotten that it’s British…my mistake…my condolences then.

Finally, we will have Bentley that is not only gracious and fast, but also eco-friendly.

Let’s delve into details and learn more about the vehicle.

Bentley EXP 10 Speed 6

Bentley EXP 10 Speed 6 will be a coupe and will be a second SUV that will be positioned right below the full-sized Bentayga – another Bentley’s vehicle that was introduced recently.

The vehicle will have two electric motors, a pair of three-stepped automatic gearboxesand a top speed of around 200 mph (320 km/h) with electric range optimistically set at approximately 300 miles (482 kilometers).

Not bad at all, huh?

Bentley EXP 10 Speed 6 will share many mechanical and chassis components with its more expensive sibling, but it will slot right between Porsche’s Macan and Cayenne in terms of size.

Where will all this power come from?

All the juice will come from state-of-the-art 500-horsepower drivetrain made up of two motors, a pair of three-stepped automatic gearboxes, and a potent battery pack.

We would like to share more details about the drivetrain, but they remain unknown yet.

The coupe will tip the scale at about 4,400 pounds thanks to upcoming advances in battery technology.

Design work

Muscular, athletic bodywork echoes the inspiration drawn from sleek, aerodynamic aircraft forms.

As the automaker claims, their designers have sought, and found, a harmony between sharp lines and flowing surfaces and have evocatively harnessed the twisting, sculpted surfaces to imply speed.

Striking copper elements are employed, on both exterior and interior features, as accents to highlight the hybrid potential of this concept’s advanced new powertrain.

The inspiration for the interior comes from the continuous line that runs around the cabin, driving through the console into two symmetrical wings before flowing into the door and looping back into the console armrest.

Two quilted sports seats are positioned either side of the narros center console which houses exquisite driver controls and a highly intuitive 12" touch screen. These features combine futuristic technology seamlessly with progressive Bentley craftsmanship.

Bentley’s most performance oriented luxury cabin is born of the principles of established luxury applied in new and invigorating ways such as two-metal 3D texturing and a deftly intuitive 12” touchscreen.

5745.jpgThe words of Sang Yup Lee, Bentley’s Head of Advanced Design: "When I judge a sports car, I have a simple logic. Unless you fall in love with it at first sight, the car is a failure."

The EXP 10 Speed 6 is tentatively scheduled to land in showrooms in 2018 with a base price of roughly £120,000(around $180,000).

The EXP 10 Speed 6 concept has been given the green light for production, so there’s a probability that the vehicle will appear a little bit earlier.

Let’s cross our fingers and hope that it will be this way.
