Heat-gathering Goodyear BH-03 concept tire generates electricity and charges electric vehicle on the move

At this year’s Geneva Motor Show, Goodyear presented intriguing tire concept that feed an electric car's batteries while rolling down the road.
The tire concept (BH-03) offers the possibility of charging the batteries of electric cars by transforming the heat generated by the rolling tire into electrical energy.
How does this tire generate electricity?
The Goodyear BH-03 features two ways to generate electricity as the tire rolls down the road. The first is a weave of thermoelectric fibers, which converts heat energy into electricity. The second feature uses piezoelectric materials to convert the flexing of the tire into an electrical impulse.
Goodyear’s tire concept uses the exact same phenomenon that causes tire blowouts to generate electricity, which could be used to feed energy back into an electric vehicle battery.
As a tire rolls down the road, it is constantly changing shape. This flexing, in an underinflated tire, generates a lot of heat, which can lead to a blowout.

In the Goodyear BH-03 concept, this flexing is converted into electricity, as well as the heat, which is also converted to electricity. Now the BH-03 just needs a self-regulating tire-pressure feature, and it would be just perfect.

As demand for electric cars grows, this technology has the potential to significantly contribute to the solution of future mobility challenges. This visionary tire technology could eliminate the vehicle-range anxiety motorists may have with electric vehicles.

Goodyear Triple Tube concept tires have the ability to adjust their grip levels to boost stability(continual retuning of suspension settings while on the move), handling and comfort of the vehicle.
The tires have three tubes each and different bands of treads, both governed by a sensor based compressor system. Different regions or chambers of the Triple Tube tires are actively inflated or deflated judging the road conditions, to provide the right amount of grip on each corner, during high speed manoeuvres. These tires also help improve mileage / fuel economy by reducing rolling resistance whenever possible, and improves safety by reducing the risk of aquaplaning while driving in rain or snow.
